Privacy policy

1. Who we are

RootN Engineering Consulting Inc. (“RootN”, “we”, “us”) is an engineering consultancy based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This policy applies to rootn.ca and to information you provide through it. For questions, contact contact@rootn.ca.

2. What we collect

We collect only the information you choose to send us. When you use the contact form, that is:

• your name, work email address and company;
• the topic you select, if any;
• the message you write.

This website does not use cookies, analytics scripts, advertising pixels or any other tracking technology, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

3. How we use it

We use your information only to reply to your inquiry, arrange and prepare for a call, keep a record of our correspondence, and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not send marketing email unless you explicitly ask for it.

4. Service providers

The website is hosted by Netlify, which also processes contact-form submissions before forwarding them to us. Netlify acts as a service provider on our behalf and may store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

5. How we protect it

Form submissions are sent over an encrypted (TLS) connection. We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, and access to the information is limited to the people at RootN who need it to respond to you.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes above or as required by law. If we do not go on to work together and you ask us to delete your information, we will do so within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.

7. Your rights

Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent to its use, or have it deleted (subject to legal retention requirements). You may also complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. To make a request, email contact@rootn.ca; we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

This website is intended for business users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
